Our work on Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, included full internal and external improvement works across the mall and public realm. The leisure park covers a 27,000 square metre area and includes popular venues such as Cineworld, Hollywood Bowl, 360 Play, as well as an array of popular restaurants and supporting facilities.

Internally the public realm areas needed full refurbishment, which included installation of new ceiling and flooring and a bespoke lighting system. The outer building refurbishment work included the removal of large, glazed canopies, then the installation of a new composite curtain walling system with a new glazed façade leading to the atrium.

All mechanical and electrical services were renewed as part of the refurbishment process. Externally we completed major reconfiguration works, including the resurfacing of a 1,700 space car park.

The leisure park was fully operational while works took place and given the high level of vehicle and public footfall traffic, a key part of the project was effective phasing and stringent health and safety management. We needed to keep visitors and workers safe and minimise the disruption to business.

Careful planning and close liaison with our client and leisure park tenants was essential. Each element of the programme of works was agreed before going ahead and completed with low levels of disruption. We enabled businesses to keep operating as close to usual as possible. The works were completed successfully and we achieved high levels of satisfaction amongst leisure park tenants and our client.
